29 Nov Celebrating 50 Years of the Dales Way
This year, the Dales Way Association are celebrating a huge 50 years and have an exciting host of events planned. If you’re not sure what the Dales Way is or have never experienced it for yourself, you’re missing out on one of the most spectacular walks in the UK!
The Dales Way is an 80-mile long footpath amongst the stunning Yorkshire Dales, running from Ilkley, West Yorkshire, to Bowness-on-Windermere, Cumbria and following beautiful riverside paths.
Just a few of the events planned include a marathon run, a mobile exhibition, a re-enactment of the first public Dales Way walk and a celebration lunch at our favourite pub – the Craven Arms (in Appletreewick)!
If you’re interested in the Dales Way marathon, the race will take place on Saturday morning, 17th August 2019 and is the full length of the Dales Way. 250 competitors are expected to run over 36 hours, starting in the Lake District and finishing in Ilkley. If you would like to get involved, you can find all the details here: www.punkpanther.co.uk
If you’re interested in the wonderful history of the Dales Way, this fantastic exhibition in August is for you! On show at the Manor House, Ilkley, the exhibition includes displays on the route, the history and stories, memories, and photos shared by people who have walked the way.
