27 Jun Dining in the Yorkshire Dales: Explore your options
We believe that food and drink can make or break your holiday, and a full belly is the recipe for success. But being out in the countryside means planning pays off. So, we’ve put together a guide that will unite foodie lovers and point you in the direction of tasty treats right here, in the local villages, and further afield.
Secure your pitch first
Before we dive in, don’t forget to check availability for your preferred dates here at Masons Campsite. We have options for camping, caravanning and even glamping with separate cooking areas and crackling log burners, so you can still prepare your own signature dishes and home comforts.
Pastries and pizzas on your porch
Like many of our visitors, we’re big on doing things right. No half measures. That’s why we’ve built a fully staffed kitchen filled with freshly baked pastries, quality barista coffee, delicious sourdough pizza and more. It’s all part of our commitment to offering one of the cosiest campsites in the Yorkshire Dales, where camping feels less like a list of tasks, and more like coming home from a long day (only better).
Masons Kitchen is open throughout the day, 9am – 3pm except during weekends, when we open a little later to serve tasty ice creams throughout the summer. At lunchtime you’ll find something for everyone after a competitive game of boules or morning paddling and hunting for crayfish in the River Wharfe. We have light bites, focaccia sandwiches, bits ‘n’ chips, and hand stretched sourdough pizzas with a range of meat free options too. For drink lovers, you’ll find a selection of soft drinks as well as alcoholic beverages including beers, lagers, ciders, wine, canned drinks and more.
After pitching your tent or settling into your yurt, there’s nothing better than grabbing a hot pizza fresh out of the woodfired oven, so we recommend pre-ordering your Saturday night slice and baked goods for the morning, to ensure you have everything just the way you like it.
Masons Kitchen has just taken to the web with its own Google, Instagram and Facebook pages, so do give us a follow if you want to see all of our upcoming menu developments!
Food and drink just walking distance from Masons Campsite
While we wish we could do everything right here, there’s no replicating the feeling of a good old-fashioned pub. That’s exactly what The Craven Arms in Appletreewick is, and thankfully, you only have to walk five minutes down the road to reach it. Expect real ales, great local food, original gas lighting and plenty of friendly locals to pass the time with.
For an almost overwhelming choice of local pints, take a look at The New Inn, where a corner of the bar is dedicated for wooden barrel building – it’s sure to fascinate even the most fidgety little one!
Upscale dining in The Dales
Some of Yorkshire’s finest foodie havens are found a little further afield. Like Michelin-starred restaurant The Angel at Hetton, where chef Michael Wignall presents tasting menus that are almost too good looking to eat. Almost. Meanwhile trendy café, bar and terrace Alexanders in Skipton’s town centre offers a scenic river backdrop tucked away behind the high street with dishes such as seared tuna, poke bowls and spice-infused lamb.
For a more child-friendly fine dining experience, The Devonshire Fell at Burnsall just a 30-minute walk up the hill boasts dramatic views of the rolling countryside, and the vast gardens offer a safe space to soak up the sun while enjoying a glass of wine, lunch or dinner in the conservatory.
Ready, steady, book
If food is a big tick box for your next getaway, consider it checked off.
