28 Jun Explore Yorkshire in all its glory this summer
Summer is in full swing, and Yorkshire is looking better than it ever has! There’s greenery as far as the eye can see and the nearby walking trails are in full bloom. Although this area is lovely no matter what time of year it is, it’s easy to see why summer is such a popular time for visitors to the Yorkshire Dales.
We invite you to see the wonders of a Yorkshire summer all for yourself during a visit to our campsite. Here are some of our favourite things to do that take advantage of the glorious weather. You know, while it lasts!
Natural wonders
When the sun is shining, Yorkshire shines too. We love seeing the landscape come to life and there’s no better place to start a walking trail off on the right foot. We’re right in the heart of the action, and you can find many of the region’s most popular walks on our doorstep!
The villages of Burnsall, Grassington and Bolton Abbey are ideally placed to enjoy an ice cream on the River Wharfe. Or venture out to the market town of Skipton. Here, you can enjoy more of the hustle and bustle of country life. Further afield, you’ll find the Yorkshire Three Peaks which are immensely popular during the summer months. The long days give walkers the opportunity to do all three summits in one day.
However, what goes up must come down! Yorkshire also has an abundance of rivers, lake and reservoirs that complement their mountain tops. In the summer months, locals flock to the riverbed for fishing, swimming, and water sports.
Festivals and events
The region is a haven for fabulous events – why else do you think we have so many vast fields? Some of our favourite festivals here at Masons Campsite are those that incorporate the local cuisine. These include the Yorkshire Dales Food & Drink Festival in Skipton and The Great Yorkshire Show.
Speaking of cuisine, now is the time of year where you can capture the sunshine while dining alfresco. When you’re sat at one of the local eateries behind the rolling hills, you could really be transported anywhere. No passport required!
Straight from the history books
Yorkshire is immersed in history, and you can step into the past by exploring some of the relics around Masons Campsite. Skipton Castle, White Scar Cave and Bolton Abbey are just a few of many popular sites that pull in plenty of visitors. But you can find even more treasures further afield. What’s more, the fantastic weather makes for a brilliant day out – just bring a picnic to enjoy on the grounds and you’re all set.
Ready to explore?
We can’t wait to hear all about how your day went once you get back to the campsite. Take a look at our options to pitch, park and glamp in the Yorkshire Dales and book your spot whilst the weather is on your side. The local farmers call it “making hay while the sun shines”!
